I just went in to the bank today, and asked for a line of credit extension. Instead of the $10,000 I was approved for, I went with $4,000 as the maximum. I don’t want to tempt myself.

I also picked up a $1,000 credit card for gas and food.

My credit score needs buffing, since it’s around where you’d expect for someone who has barely touched credit. The upside is, this’ll make it easier for me to pay for the axle repairs. I’m happy about that.

Can’t wait to get back on the road with Killer Queen . When that happens, I’ll post a Crapbox Review about the Chevy Sonic Turbo Premier that I drove as a rental.

There’s a certain irony in someone getting $3k worth of work done to a Crown Vic on credit calling a new Chevy Sonic a “crapbox”...

Honestly? It has its moments, but ultimately, the personality of the Chevy Sonic is just that. Crap.

And I dislike the highly automated nature of its nuances, like automatic headlight management, the Infotainment center (I keep it powered off), and the keyless system (euuuuuuggggggggh).

So yeah. Ick. Major friggin’ ick. The Crown Vic on the other hand, is worth the money to me. It’s like how it’s worth it to spend $10,000 to restore a Chevy Nova, Pinto, or Dodge Neon.

It’s all in the eye of the beholder, baby.

Anyone spending $10k on restoring a Pinto or Neon should be committed. And if auto-headlights are a feature you see as a negative... you’re a Luddite who’s truly beyond help.

10k to restore a pinto or a NEON!? or a vic for that matter?

What Pinto or Neons have you seen being restored? Nova’s aren’t uncommon, but they’re at least decent looking muscle cars that have often been upgraded rather than simply restored.

And in what realm of insanity is a keyless system worthy of disgust?!

Man, so much hate for the Crown Vic. Why? Also, isn’t a key tenant of Oppo “be excellent to each other”?

I don’t like many of the cars on here but respect that the owners do, or at least own them for comedic reasons.

because the crown vic is a TERRIBLE car...

the only reason the cops loved them is because ford gave them to the fuzz for like $35 and a sad hand job per 100 cars. so they didnt care how shit it was.

it is objectivly worse then literally everything else on the road. it doesnt handle. its cramped. it doesnt ride as good as a buick and the ford motors in them where a turd.

yes it had a bench seat. thats really about it.

I don’t totally disagree with the above. But sometimes you have to own/improve the terribleness.

....so you took a line of credit to do so?

...man, and I thought JAKE had some bad ideas in the past.

I didn’t, but Nkato did. That being said, I’ve taken money out on my Line of Credit to buy parts for the ST. Sure, maybe not the best fiscal idea, but if you love a car, whatever.

I don’t have any major issue with this whole thing and I am shocked that others do.

The D100 is a classic now, the Crown Vic is not, nor will ever be. It will forever be a bad fleet spec sedan. It’s a truck with none of the benefits of a truck. It’s about as unique as a Camry. It isn’t fun unless you are trying to kill it. It’s just a rental spec sedan that happened to be used by police, that replaced it with a Tahoe that outperforms it. Those also can be had for cheap now, and they are so much better.

The excellent thing to do is protect people from themselves.

I don’t hate the crown vic, I just don’t pretend it’s anything it isn’t.
